Will going natural help my hair growth?

Going natural will NOT make your hair grow faster. Your hair will grow the same whether it is natural or relaxed. Hair growth is based on the cell reproduction happening within your scalp. The trick letting your hair grow while preventing it from breaking.

Keep in mind growing out your relaxer will cause a hard demarcation line (where two different textures or colours) meet. A hard demarcation line causes the hair to be more susceptible to tangles and breakage.

Excessive shedding maybe a response to hormonal, mineral deficiency or health influences on the hair follicle. The key to locking moisture within the strands, is with the assistance of oil or hair butter. A light coating of oil on top of your moisturizer product will help to seal the moisture inside. If your hair isn’t properly moisturized before the barrier goes on, you can expect dryness.

Firstly, you need to understand your hair. No two heads are the same. You need to know your texture (coarse, medium, fine) density (number of active hair follicles per square inch on the scalp) and your hair porosity level.

How do I control my shrinkage?

Shrinkage is a good thing! It is a sign, your hair is telling you that it is resilient and has good elasticity (bounce back). If you feel the need to stretch your hair, try using African rubber thread. Make sure it is not too tight at the roots, for the ends make sure you wrap it up before knotting to prevent any risk of your ends being exposed. *Do not try this on low porosity hair*
